BlaqChaos' Combines Shadow Chronicles and Episode 85

There has been a lot of discussion on Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles and how it may overwrite episode 85. From my own experience, I can see it doesn't replace scenes or conflicts with episode 85 much at all. Yeah, there's Scott's alpha and the Regis' speech got shorten. Other than that, most fans' complaints have been from confusion.

BlaqChaos has attempted to put those doubts to rest by combining part of Shadow Chronicles with the footage of episode 85 of Robotech the series. This shows how Shadow Chronicles indeed adds to episode 85 without overwriting much of anything.

Be warn of major spoilers if you have not watched Shadow Chronicles yet!

Check it out for yourself: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/d-o-l/tsc/

Thanks Rhade for hosting it!

Palladium's Robotech Shadow Chronicles RPG Update!

The most exciting news of the whole week. An update about Palladium Books' Robotech: Shadow Chronicles RPG! Let's get right to it!

The Shadow Chronicles RPG has been delayed until August or Fall (Pending) (I say next year). Here's what they had to say:

"Sometimes things don’t happen as quickly as you’d hope. All you can do is keep plugging along. That’s what we’ve been doing with the Robotech® license. We had hoped to nail the license down last Winter and have the first RPG out by Spring 2007, but fate had other plans. For one reason or another, this deal just couldn’t be done quickly. However, the entire time Harmony Gold has expressed its excitement for Palladium Books getting the license and doing new Robotech RPGs and sourcebooks. And that’s what we hope to do.

Kevin hopes to have a Robotech® RPG deal, signed, sealed and delivered by the Palladium Open House, if not sooner. “We’ve made tremendous progress over the last few weeks, and both Harmony Gold and Palladium Books are anxious to see Robotech® RPGs from Palladium Books back on the market. We’re shooting to have the RPG out by August. Failing that, sometime this Fall. Keep your fingers crossed.”

Here is a glimpse of what we have in mind for the initial release.
- The first book in the series will be Robotech® The Shadow Chronicles RPG. Don’t know yet, but it may include a lot of the New Generation/Invid Invasion/Mospeada information, as Shadow Chronicles picks up where Invid Invasion leaves off.
- It will be a 192-224 page “manga-sized” book. So will the subsequent supplements.
- Price will be an irresistible $15.95 retail.
- The Shadow Chronicles® RPG will probably be followed by the Macross-based sourcebook, followed by Southern Cross and new stuff.
- Yes, we will be updating, correcting, and adding to the RPG series. The original books from the 1980s will only be the base from which we build a new era of excitement for Robotech®. The new books are NOT going to be reprints of our old titles.
- Kevin is also considering doing a deluxe, collector’s hardcover edition with some interior color pages, similar to what we did with Rifts® Ultimate Edition at the usual 8 ½ x 11 format, 224 pages. If we did, it wouldn’t see publication until Fall or possibly early 2008. Everything is still in the planning and concept stage, so nothing is written in stone.

Shelf Life on Anime News Network.com Reviews Shadow Chronicles

Anime News Network, a big time anime site for news and more, has a section called Shelf Life. In their recent posting, they review a number of animes including Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. It is a short review and sums it up as bad. Though, they did admit they were not a fan of the TV series. So, yeah. 'nough said.....

"It is possible to follow the story if you've never seen the series, but it's not easy to do. There are far too many nuances to let the casual viewer fully appreciate the story, and there are things that are just left unexplained, like the Protocultures and why humans are even really doing battle with the Invid. There's a short recap at the beginning, but it doesn't do anything to really alleviate any confusion that follows. "

Soundtrack.net Interviews Scott Glasgow

Scott Glasgow has been pretty popular among music sites with the release of the Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles soundtrack. Soundtrack.net gives a really insightful interview to Scott's entry into Robotech and his music.

"Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Right here, working in Hollywood, composing scores for films. When my Robotech CD came out, I think that was the first real tangible moment when I felt I had achieved something. I hope to have many more of these "moments" in the years to come."

Fans Wanted: G. A. Villalba Needs Your Help

A Robotech.com forum member by the name of G. A. Villalba is very interested in creating a Robotech live action short fan film. He's looking for help from other fans who want to share in his dream. Here's some of what he had to say:

"I'm an award winning film student here in Utah and I'm putting together a short idea for a robotech fan movie. I know that a lot of you want and don't want to see RT on the big screen and I respect the ones with negative opinions but I personally think that if someone shoots a RT movie it should be a die hard fan. This is a cult series and for most of us is something very personal.

So this is the deal, I'm going to start preproduction for a short RT fan movie. If anyone is interested in helping out with anything, be the story or helping out building gadgets and costumes please post your ideas and comments on this topic."

Fan Creation: Robotech/Macross Origami

It seems that some Macross fan from Japan has figured out how to make a VF-1 Veritech out of paper. Yes, Origami! It's pretty impressive and there are instructions on how to do it yourself. Though, I think it would be kinda difficult. Oh, did I say it was transformable?

Shadow Chronicles Mentioned on Star Trek.com

In Star Trek.com's news about Comic-Con, they give mention to Chase Masterson's appearance in Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. It's interesting that they actually explain her role and what the movie is about:

"Chase Masterson ("Leeta") is the female lead voice in "Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles," an anime film which has been playing in select theaters across the country over the last month and is now on DVD. "Shadow Chronicles" is a continuation of the "Robotech" animated TV series and movies of the 1980s. Masterson plays "J.A.N.I.C.E." ("Junctioned Artificial Neuro-Integrated Cybernetic Entity"), an android created from both alien and human technology, in a tale about a decades-long war between Earth and an enigmatic race known as the Invid, which began after the human race reached the stars through the miracle of "Robotechnology." Mark Hamill is the male lead. The DVD is now available at Amazon and includes a "making of" documentary and other special features."

Japan: IMAI Re-issue Mospeada Model Kits at HLJ

Since we're on the topic of Japanese toys and Mospeada, you might want to head over to HobbyLink Japan. A Japanese company named Aoshima has been re-issuing the original japanese IMAI Mospeada model kits from the 1980's. These are complete model kits that you glue together and paint yourself. These Mospeada re-issues are exactly like the ones that were released during the airing of the Mospeada series in Japan. Most of them are transformable except the 1/15 Ride Armor ones.

HobbyLink Japan, an excellent japanese importer, has 8 different kits avaiable for sale. It looks like they have all three main alphas and the main cyclones for each character. So, I suggest if you like Mospeada (The New Generation in Robotech) you might want to pick these up. They do require glue and paint, but most of them are transformable once completed.

If you have any questions about HobbyLink Japan and these kits, just send me an e-mail or a comment.

Check them out here: http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=-2&from=detail&Word=Mospeada

Japan: Beagle 1/12 Mospeada Rider Armor

If some of you recall, we have seen a company called CMS Corporation with plans to produce a MOSPEADA "Alpha" and "Beta" for next year. Now watch out. The support for Mospeada continues in Japan as a company named Beagle will be producing 1/12 scale transformable Mospeada "Cyclones" toys for 2008. These Cyclones will be made of ABS plastic and die cast metal. These will be brand new sculpts and all 4 model types will be made. They are exclusively made for the Japanese market for the Japanese series of Mospeada. These are not made for "Robotech" and are not plan for a direct release in America.

Mospeada is the original Japanese TV series that Robotech used to create The New Generation Saga. Mospeada has been pretty dead in Japan since the 1980's but there's been a renew interest. Some say Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles has caused this in Japan, where Robotech is virtually unknown. However, there are still a couple of die-hard Mospeada fans in Japan to support these efforts. With the upcoming release of the Alpha, Beta, and now Cyclone for the Japanese market by Japanese companies, this may create serious competition. Toynami, the American company that produces Robotech toys has only recently announced their transformable Cyclone line along with more Alpha toys based on Shadow Chronicles. Will Harmony Gold allow the import of these new Mospeada toys or seal them off to help Toynami sell their own versions? Time will tell, but anyone could tell you that the Japanese products are often superior in quality.

Note: We are talking about the Japanese Mospeada series. These toys are being created exclusive for Japan for Mospeada. They are not for Robotech and has no direct plans for release in America.

Fan Creation: Killbot Zero does the Robotech Theme

A band named Killbot Zero has produced a wonderful version of the classic Robotech TV series opening theme. Extremely well done I think. You can download the mp3 of the song on their web site, but you should purchase their "Game Over" CD to support them.

Tracksounds.com Reviews Shadow Chronicles Soundtrack

Tracksounds.com, a web site that reviews soundtracks and film music, has decided to review Scott Glasgow's Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles CD soundtrack. The reviewer makes a number of references to how the music sounds or is similar to the Star Wars tracks, which Scott has mentioned to a degree. The article is an interesting in-depth look at how the tracks were put together. This guy has done some research for sure. He rates each song individually at the bottom of the article. However, the CD overall got an average rating. I like the Robotech advertisement banners on the site though...

"It could be argued that the original ROBOTECH series of 1985 brought anime fandom in America to a new level and finished opening the door which the likes of SPEED RACER and STARBLAZERS had begun. Since 1985, the beloved series has garnered a huge worldwide following and has invaded the realms of comics, novels, video games, and full-length feature films. After a twenty-year hiatus, Harmony Gold's ROBOTECH franchise is back with its first full-length feature since the 1986, ROBOTECH: THE SHADOW CHRONICLES."

Lonely Soldier Boy is Wonderful! Buy it Now!

I have finally recieved my own copy of Michael Bradley's Lonely Soldier Boy music CD. It's better than ever expected. This is Robotech's greatest songs (not by Minmei) that have been redone in high-quality stereo quality with brand new background music that mixes the sound of the original and improve them greatly. No longer are the Robotech songs just some low-quality 80 songs..They are now timeless classics thanks to Michael Bradley and Khristina K! Bradley, the man who sang for the character of Lancer/Yellow Dancer and wrote many of these songs himself. Khristina K, a long time singer now joining us in our Robotech adventures. You won't be disappointed!

The fans of The New Generation will be very pleased as they already know. "Lonely Soldier Boy", "The Way to Love", and "Look Up! The Sky is Falling" will make you want Bradley to be a part of the Shadow Chronicles project. Then there is "We Will Win" which Lancer and Minmei both sang their own solo versions in the show. With Khristina K, Lancer and Minmei sings together the legendary song in the greatest quality ever! There is also a live version of "It Don't Get Any Better" on the disc as well.

Let me call out to the Robotech Masters fans as well. Musica's wonderful "Flower of Life" song has been brought to a new level of greatest as well. It only demands that the Robotech Masters and Musica see a new age of animation to go along with this wonderful remake of her song.

Finally, there is Robotech: The Untold Story. The movie most people didn't see. However, everyone loves the songs from it. Michael has really done magic with "Underground" and "In My Heart". They are so good and wonderful. Underground is even better than the original!

Michael has also included three demo reels that he created back in 1985 as he was working on the Robotech TV series. This includes Lonely Soldier Boy (Demo), It Don't Get Any Better (Demo), and Look Up! The Sky is Falling (Demo). They are demo versions, but the quality is decent and not that bad. They are there for archive purpose for hardcore fans like myself.

Do you want to hear more? Do you want all the Robotech songs remade into the highest quality, highest production value that we'll get? Do you want to hear Minmei completely reborn as Khristina K, someone with REAL talent? Do you want the rest of Untold Story's songs to be remade? Then...BUY THIS CD today! Buy multiple copies. Buy copies for your friends! That's the only way more Robotech songs will be remade by Michael Bradley and Khristina K. They needs your support. So order a copy today: http://www.michaelbradleymusic.com/buynow.htm

I do not work for them. I bought my own CD. However, I am a Robotech fan and you are one too. This is the best Robotech music of the original songs. I love the originals and I love these remakes. They're both wonderful. Michael Bradley is doing this work without funds from Harmony Gold. Yes, WITHOUT the help of Harmony Gold. He's spending his own money as if he was a fan. He cares about the fandom. So make a difference and make the future of Robotech music better than it'll ever be!

New Robotech.com Poll

Robotech.com has added a new poll today on their site. It looks to be an important one for them to make decisions: "How do you feel about printed Robotech stories vs. the animated series now in 2007?"

They also added another poll on March 11th: "What monitor resolution are you mainly using now in 2007? (pick the closest one)."

Help and Promote Michael Bradley's CD

As all of you should know by now, Michael Bradley (song writer and singer of Lancer/Yellow Dancer) has released his long awaited Robotech remake CD entitled Lonely Soldier Boy. However, Bradley is still not receiving enough sales and needs your support if you want to see more Robotech work from him.

Robotech fan that goes by the name Rhade has received this email from Michael:
"The sales have been pretty good so far...but could be a lot better. I'm sure as time goes on and we keep publicizing it and reaching out to fans who may not know about it, the sales will continue. Thanks for writing and thanks SO much for your support!"

I personally wrote Michael an e-mail about how much fans can make a difference no matter when they decide to buy and he replied with this:
"And, yes, any purchase at any time...now or weeks from now would be greatly appreciated! The future of other ROBOTECH related products coming from my company depends on the success of this CD. I think the sales will be a barometer of the interest level of the public...and I would love to do more songs from the ROBOTECH saga...acoustic versions, live versions...we've even discussed Khristina K doing the Minmei songs and the female songs from ROBOTECH: THE MOVIE."

So please support Michael Bradley and his projects by buying his Lonely Soldier Boy CD and the MP3 single!

Yuri Lowenthal at Supanova Brisbane 2007, April 13 - 15

From Cyc
Possible Robotech Fan-meet and Yuri Lowenthal at Supanova Brisbane 2007, April 13 - 15

Another year and another Supanova Brisbane. Once again trying to get an RT fan-meet up and running, there has to be more than a couple of RT fans up inBrisbane, but this year they've also got Yuri Lowenthal (voice of Marcus Rush) as a guest panelist. Sure he'll probably be hit up by Natruo fangirls, but one of the few chances to ask someone even halfway related to Robotech questions here in Australia...

Sopanova is a pop culture convention in Australia that covers Star Wars, Harry Potter, DragonBall Z, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings, Pokemon, Transformers, Star Trek, Superman, and many movies, comics, and TV shows.
